Ingredients

  • Crisco® Cooking Spray
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 3/4 lb mushrooms, cleaned and chopped
  • ½ cup onion, diced
  • ¼ cup celery, diced
  • 1 1/2 cup turkey broth low-sodium
  • 8 cup bread stuffing cubes unseasoned low-sodium
  • 3 tbsp Dash™ Original Seasoning Blend
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried sage (optional)

A healthier, homemade version of the classic holiday stuffing with plenty of vegetables and no added salt. Dash™ Original Seasoning Blend brings all of the flavors alive in this moist and delicious stuffing.

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F. Lightly spray a 2-quart casserole dish with cooking spray and set it aside.
  2. In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mushrooms, onion, and celery, and cook for about 10 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  3. In a bowl, place the bread cubes and pour the chicken broth over them. Stir until the bread cubes are evenly moistened.
  4. Add the cooked vegetables, sage (if using), and Dash™ Salt-Free Original Seasoning to the bread mixture. Stir everything together until well combined.
  5. Transfer the mixture into the prepared casserole dish and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, until the stuffing is heated through, and the top is slightly golden.
  6. Serve alongside roast turkey for a delicious and flavorful meal.

Tips

  • Chef’s Tip - If you plan to use this stuffing inside a turkey, let the stuffing cool completely before spooning it into the turkey cavity. This helps prevent the stuffing from becoming overly mushy and also ensures even cooking. Additionally, loosely pack the stuffing inside the cavity to allow air circulation, which helps the stuffing cook thoroughly and safely.For food safety, it's important to use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the stuffing inside the turkey. It should reach 165°F to ensure it's fully cooked.
