- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 25 minutes
- Yield: 6 servings
Ingredients
For the Sauce:
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes (no salt added)
- 1/4 cup tomato paste (no salt added)
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 tbsp Dash Ultimate Garlic Seasoning Blend
For Serving:
- 12 oz whole wheat pasta (your choice)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh basil for garnish
Directions
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, until the onion is translucent. Add the ground turkey to the pot, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until it is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped carrot, celery, and bell pepper to the pot. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables begin to soften.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and chicken broth. Add Dash Ultimate Garlic Seasoning Blend and bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook uncovered for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
- While the sauce is simmering, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook the whole wheat pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
- Stir in the chopped fresh basil into the sauce. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. Serve the turkey bolognese sauce over the cooked pasta. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
