Fire up the grill! A Fourth of July or end-of-summer barbecue calls for a delicious cheeseburger recipe the whole family will love. Make sure to use whole-wheat buns for a healthier option. (Recipe courtesy of The Beef Checkoff.)
Cook Time: 13 Minutes
2 tbsp quick-cooking oats
4 seeded or whole-wheat hamburger buns split
4 slice real California fresh mozzarella cheese, about 1/4-inch thick
1 lb ground beef (95% lean)
2 tsp Original Blend seasoning
Place oats in food-safe plastic bag.
Seal bag securely, squeezing out excess air.
Roll over bag with rolling pin to crush oats to a fine consistency.
Combine ground beef, oats and Original Blend Seasoning in large bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly.
Lightly shape into four 1/2-inch patties.
Place patties on grill.
If using a charcoal grill, cook over ash-colored coals, covered, for 11 to 13 minutes.
On a gas grill, cook over medium heat, covered, for 7 to 8 minutes.
Turn occasionally until instant-read thermometer inserted horizontally into center registers 160 degrees.
Line bottom of each bun with lettuce and tomato; top with burger and cheese slice.
