1 Hour, 30 MinutesIngredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup onion, minced
- 1/4 cup carrot, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
- 1 lb ground sirloin
- 2 cans whole tomato salt-free 16 oz, crushed
- 1 can tomato paste salt-free 6 oz
- 1/2 beef broth, low sodium
- 1/4 cup dry red wine
- 2 tbsp Dash™ Italian Medley Seasoning Blend
- 1 tbsp sugar
Ground sirloin, tomatoes, carrots, onions and a generous touch of red wine blend together beautifully to create a taste of Italy. Top this on your favorite pasta dish and savor in all the flavor of Dash™ Italian Medley Seasoning Blend.
Directions
- In a large saucepot, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the onions, celery, and carrots, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are translucent.
- Add the ground sirloin to the pot and cook for about 8 minutes, or until the beef is no longer pink, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, wine, Dash™ Italian Medley Seasoning Blend, and sugar.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer uncovered for about 90 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce reaches your desired thickness.
- Serve simply with your favorite pasta, or elevate it by pairing with spaghetti squash, creamy polenta, or zucchini noodles for a fresh and flavorful twist.
Tips
- Chef’s Tip - For a healthier twist, use ground turkey instead of beef, and add a splash of low-sodium chicken broth to keep the meat moist and enhance the flavor. This keeps the dish lighter without sacrificing taste!
