Guinness Braised Beef
- Braised beef cooks low and slow, resulting in a tender and succulent dish. Great for entertaining as you can pop it in the oven and forget about it until your guests arrive.

Ingredients
- 3 lb boneless beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 3 tbsp firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 3 large carrots, sliced
- 6 slice bacon, coarsely chopped
- 1 package Beef Stew Seasoning Mix
- 3 stalks celery, sliced
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 12 oz bottle Guinness or dark beer
- 1 large onion, chopped
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Toss beef with flour; set aside.
- Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp; remove bacon.
- In same skillet, in reserved bacon drippings, brown beef in batches; remove.
- Add onion, carrot and celery; cook, stirring occasionally, 2 minutes.
- Stir in beer and bring to a boil, scraping browned bits from bottom of pan.
- Add beef, bacon, seasoning, brown sugar and vegetable mixture to Dutch oven or ovenproof 2-quart casserole.
- Bake, covered, 2 hours or until beef is tender.
- Serve with mashed potatoes.
